When installing tile work, it is essential to start by preparing the surface. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and level. Apply a layer of adhesive (thinset) to the substrate and spread it evenly. Begin installing tiles from the center of the area, working your way outward in a straight line. Use spacers to maintain even gaps between tiles and cut tiles as needed using a wet saw or tile cutter. Use a notched trowel to apply grout between tiles, wiping away excess with a damp sponge. Finally, seal the grout with a penetrating sealer to protect it from stains and water damage. By following these steps, you will achieve a professional-looking tile installation that will last for years to come.
